Composition

Aspects of Focus:

Rule of Thirds: The subject is in the first of the three imaginary sectors. This creates a more interesting and appealing picture. It draws the viewers attention to the subject, which is what you want them to see. In this picture, the attention is pointed towards John, who is yawning. This can make us feel tired or relaxed or even yawn as well.

Shallow Focus: The subject is put into focus and everything else around him is blurry. This gives attention to the subject and only the subject. Viewers don't really have nothing to look at but the subject. Here, John is clearly thinking. The blurriness can represent him in deep thought and it makes you wonder 'what is he thinking?'
Standard Focus: The foreground is clear, the middle ground is a little blurry, and the background is completely blurry. This gives some attention to the middle ground, but mainly to the foreground (main subject). There viewers can see the subject as an event plays out. In the picture, you can see Juan reading while sort of seeing John walk in the background. Here, it can set a setting of a busy library as people pass through and can make the viewer wonder what he is reading.
Deep Focus: Everything is clear and not blurry. It allows for everything to be seen. This gives the viewer the ability to look around. In this picture, a lot is happening. A man is getting attacked, people are on their phones, and people are doing work. The span of action that is happening gives us options and many things to admire. it may also show that no one gives no mind of John getting attacked.
Focus Pull: The focus goes from one subject to the other. It is a shift of attention. Viewers are made to put their attention from one subject to another. Here, the focus is on the two in a conversation talking bad about Juan. Juan overhears and appears, revealed by changing the focus from them to him. We, at first, are interested in the conversation that's happening. We are then revealed to Juan and we feel excited. You can sense the tension rise and is curious to see what plays out.
