Filming Process Instructions

         Our group began filming two weeks ago. It was a struggle but we managed to get the school's auditorium all to ourselves to record. The lighting was dark but in certain moments we used our phones' flashlight. For this scene, I was the camera man.


        For this picture, I was filming the piano. At first it was empty until our actor, Kristian, walks from behind me to reveal himself to the scene. He walks to the piano. Despite the light you see, the lighting is dark, creating that sense of mystery as he walks in. This was further emphasized with the camera being low, not allowing the audience to see Kristian's face.


        In this picture, I am filming Kristian playing the piano. I am at a position that does not show his face. This was part of multiple clips that show Kristian playing the piano. Here as you can see, a light was used.


        Here, I was showing the piano keys moving. This shows that the piano is playing and its one of the clips that show Kristian playing the piano. It was hard to get the right position to get the best angle, but I got it.

Peer Reviews of First Cut Movie Opener

    In the film opening, the technical element I found most enjoyable was the sound. The sound effects of ringing and odd heartbeats definitely added to the phycological suspense the film seems to focus on. The background track was a great pick, as it perfectly added to the creepy and suspenseful. The sudden straight cuts also adds to the insanity and messiness, mirroring the character.  What I found wrong with the film is the costuming of the, seems to be, therapist. Although I do recognize the attempt to make him look formal, he did not seem formal enough. The lighting  of the film was also to bright. For the idea of a suspense, the lighting should have been more darker. The scene in which the protagonist is on the computer, instead of the camera going around her, it would be better as an over the shoulder shot. I do believe that this is an opening. Evaluation of Peer Reviews

Peer Review 1: "The technical element I really liked in the opening is the drone shot that they did. It was really well done and added to the cliffhanger that was necessary to be a continuation clip. Another element of the clip I liked was the closeups of the piano, especially the shot where the piano is being opened.  There was no sound in the video, this took away from the first 40 seconds. Especially since it seems like they are focusing on the playing of the piano within that. Another element is that some shots seem to hold a few seconds too long. This can be seen with the shot at 53 seconds, it seems to hold for about two seconds then it needed to. This did look like a movie opener. This was because of the cliffhanger it was left on. Though with how sudden it was maybe it can be seen as a clip found more later in a film, overall it is a good opener. There were a few things that made me confused in the short. Most important was what was the significant of the first 40 seconds....
