 Dare to Thrill

The video is run by handheld camera movements, usually when it shows the group. This can make the audience feel involved in the scene. There is a ton of close ups with quick straight cuts to show the action and thrill of the car ride. The low lighting properly matched the late night mood. The words' style and font seemed out of place and random. The sound and music perfectly fit the mood of what was happening. Mumbled dialogue occurred when the group was walking together. There was action music when they were driving the car. During the car drive, they used dolly shots to follow the car, as well as pans, handhelds, and static shots. They properly ended the scene with an insert cut of the trunk, leaving the audience in suspense and wanting to "continue" watching. Overall, the scene was well made.

Always Watching

The video shows the main character's urge to stalk his best friend. The scene uses technical elements in the video to give off creepy vibes which gives the audience a feeling like there in the short scene. Besides eerie music, there were close up shots, the cross cutting, and the low key lighting. My main issue was the use of dialogue. The dialogue was very bland and lacked the eerie tone meant for the scene. It was wise of them to use low key lighting, but they did not do it properly. They should have filmed at night instead of filming in daylight and lowering the brightness. This scene over all was not the best.
The Blue Boar

Once the scene begins, the protagonist seems sad with the clever use of somber music. There is use of flashbacks with a dialogue from her mother. There are multiple straight cuts between the flashback and present day, a clever use to demonstrate the protagonist rebellion mindset. She breaks into song with the music being upbeat with a hopeful tune to symbolize the liberating tone, using green and nature to represent such free life. This scene was great.

White Coat

In this film, they excellently uses mise en scene to demonstrate the mysterious lab. The use of smoke, dark lighting, and lab coat and equipment add depth to the story. The general color of blue and grey was also a great option as it properly compliments the dark lighting and smoky atmosphere. Clever use of close ups to show the equipment and the process the seeming antagonist is doing. The dramatic/mysterious background sound they chose wasn't bad but I feel like they could do better. The sound in general was very blank and bland. There was a lot of quick straight cuts that were unnecessary. The ending could of been a fade out also, but overall it was a great scene.

Stalker

In the scene. the music becomes tense, and horror music begins to play which causes the audience to be in suspense and uneased. There are also close ups to show the protagonist's face to show such tension. During her day at school, there was a well used over the shoulder shot to reveal a paper. When she runs to her car, the music changes back to the horror theme. The natural lighting to me did not fit the mood of the story. The beautiful sunshine seemed contradictory to the horror sense. The camera movement when running to the car should have also been more handheld and shaky to add better drama and chase. The scene was not bad.
Nostalgia

The general technical element used was close ups of either the old lady's face or of a painting and other objects. These close ups and inserts of childhood objects and photos are use to show her childhood and how she misses it, meant to give a sensation just as the title says, nostalgia. The tilt at the start was a good use in which looking at the sky set a reminiscing atmosphere. The cuts seemed too simple as all we see are plain cuts to the next scenes, especially when there could have been a dissolve in many spots, specifically when it transitions between her and her past self. The whole video was really confusing and messy.

Rise

This scene holds a montage of the protagonist doing soccer drills. The montage had proper upbeat music, different cuts, and handheld camera movement to bring the audience into the thrill of soccer. The montage gets interrupted by a cut away to a guy outside the field watching the other guy playing soccer, creating suspense and question to the audience. The high key lighting the montage was a clever nod to represent ho the story so far is at ease but it shifts to lower lighting when the soccer player was walking back to his car to see the other guy waiting on him with a serious face to add drama and intensity, signify that the story is gonna intensify. This scene is good and well made.

Dear Lover

The most used element used was the close ups, which revealed to us the character face and their state of emotion. They used a wide shot as well to introduce the setting. There's also a over the shoulder shot showing her holding a flower and an aerial shot showing her begin throwing the flower, which leads to an action cut of the flower landing in the water. These are used to represent the tone of loss and sadness. There's some two shot scenes showing two girls talking their feeling out, properly used to show their connection. This scene is well made.

These scenes did not truly inspire or influence anything towards our scene. I do now realize how diverse these scenes can be, yet get the same result.
