Explain the importance of cross media synergies in the media area you have studied. In the world of media, evolving technology and roles played by different media companies tend to drive film makers to collaborate in different media platforms. Throughout the filming industry, media companies rely on each other to produce, market, and distribute films for the ultimate to earn revenue. This is the point of cross media synergy, to ensure revenue throughout collaborative work of different media forms. 20th Century Studios, Inc., once known as 20th Century Fox, is an American film production and distribution company owned by the Walt Disney Studios. It was founded in May 31, 1935. Their most notable productions/media texts were Star Wars films, X-Men, Ice Age, Avatar, and Planet of the Apes, Deadpool, Rio, and Alvin and the Chipmunks. They created Free Guy, a film made for kids, teens, and young adults, which worked with numerous media companies. In the production of Free Guy, 20th Century...

The font we used is 'playfair display' as it fits best with its professional and sharp look, mirroring the business attire and seriousness of the scene. The font color used in the first part, the piano scene, is white. This is because it contrasts with the dark background, allowing the audience to read it. The same thing happens throughout the rest of the opening, color being either black or white. We kept the sequence in the bottom corners to avoid covering the events played through in the scenes. There were two moments in which there was a fade to black in which we placed the two important texts in the center. The first was to show the production company, being in white to contrast the black. The second fade, which was at the end, displayed the title. It was placed at the end to conclude the opener and start the action of the movie. The color of this font was unique, being a golden color as it is usually the first color that comes to mind of people who think of...

Peer Review 1: "The technical element I really liked in the opening is the drone shot that they did. It was really well done and added to the cliffhanger that was necessary to be a continuation clip. Another element of the clip I liked was the closeups of the piano, especially the shot where the piano is being opened. There was no sound in the video, this took away from the first 40 seconds. Especially since it seems like they are focusing on the playing of the piano within that. Another element is that some shots seem to hold a few seconds too long. This can be seen with the shot at 53 seconds, it seems to hold for about two seconds then it needed to. This did look like a movie opener. This was because of the cliffhanger it was left on. Though with how sudden it was maybe it can be seen as a clip found more later in a film, overall it is a good opener. There were a few things that made me confused in the short. Most important was what was the significant of the first 40 seconds....

In the film opening, the technical element I found most enjoyable was the sound. The sound effects of ringing and odd heartbeats definitely added to the phycological suspense the film seems to focus on. The background track was a great pick, as it perfectly added to the creepy and suspenseful. The sudden straight cuts also adds to the insanity and messiness, mirroring the character. What I found wrong with the film is the costuming of the, seems to be, therapist. Although I do recognize the attempt to make him look formal, he did not seem formal enough. The lighting of the film was also to bright. For the idea of a suspense, the lighting should have been more darker. The scene in which the protagonist is on the computer, instead of the camera going around her, it would be better as an over the shoulder shot. I do believe that this is an opening. It properly introduces two characters without the need of background information. You are able to figure out what is ...

These are pictures showing the process of recording the rest of our scenes This picture shows Elizabeth doing her voice over As you can see from the images above, we finished getting all the elements, except for the music, and is ready to be edited. The image above shows the screen of our editor, Kristian, editing a scene. He is currently changing the lighting, making it more orange, not too bright yet not dark either. As I said in a previous blog, me and John offered the idea of having the font for the title sequence to be 'playfair display'. Kristian agrees and will be using that font for the title sequence. As for sound, there is no sound that has been added yet, but we do have the voice over ready. So far, our editor spent around two or three hours editing. Now that we got basically everything, he will start to truly edit it all.

Our editor is Kristian Bowers. At the moment, we do not have much of the recordings ready to be edited. We plan to record on the 26th of February, but for now we brainstorm what we believe should be in the scene. For the font, we believe the font 'playfair display' fits best with its professional and sharp look, mirroring the business attire and seriousness of the scene. The colors would either be black, one of the general colors found in the film and the basic color used by professionals on paper, or dark maroon, symbolizing/foreshadowing the blood and violence that awaits. So far, we plan to add a grey, or dark, tint effect to the film, to again symbolize the seriousness of the scene. We don't know much of which special transitions to use, but Kristian will definitely add a lot of straight cuts. For audio effects, we are using the diegetic sound effect of footsteps and a gunshot. Music will also be played in the background, a piece made by Kristian himself. A problem Kr...

Our group began filming two weeks ago. It was a struggle but we managed to get the school's auditorium all to ourselves to record. The lighting was dark but in certain moments we used our phones' flashlight. For this scene, I was the camera man. For this picture, I was filming the piano. At first it was empty until our actor, Kristian, walks from behind me to reveal himself to the scene. He walks to the piano. Despite the light you see, the lighting is dark, creating that sense of mystery as he walks in. This was further emphasized with the camera being low, not allowing the audience to see Kristian's face. In this picture, I am filming Kristian playing the piano. I am at a position that does not show his face. This was part of multiple clips that show Kristian playing the piano. Here as you can see, a light was used. Here, I was showing the pian...

During our film process, we experienced and are still experiencing many issues. We are all dependent upon each other and if one is not caught up then we are all held back. We are experiencing issues finding the right time to film as our schedules are distinguished from each others. We are trying to solve this by planning ahead. Another issue we face is where to record said film. We still cannot find a parking lot of an office building in which we can all go to. We will also have a short time to record as it will be during sundown. We plan on roaming through google maps to find the right place then we will schedule a time to record. We also plan to include an original piano piece. To record said piece I have to bring my keyboard and we do not know where to meet up to make it. Also it is harder to know that I cannot bring the keyboard wherever. I plan to just bring it a day I happen to hangout with them.

This white button shirt and black pants will be worn by Kristian. This was chosen as it is not fully professional or casual, as he will play the piano (prop). This act will be done backstage, therefore his hair will be casual as he is in a carefree environment, not preforming in front of anyone. This grey business suit with a briefcase (prop) will be worn by John. This is meant to represent a professional man. This is backed up by a gelled hair. This is meant to depict an average worker. The briefcase also implies that he is not currently at work, either leaving or entering his job. This gives a sense of seriousness and professionality, with the colors being bland. I will be wearing the blanch trench coat and fedora hat. This was meant to hide the persons personality, making him a mystery to the audience. The color black on the costume is meant to represent darkness and the unknown....

We have decided that Kristian will be the editor, camera man, and the actor of the man who plays the piano. Elizabeth will be the voice over. John will be the actor of the business man. I will be the actor who plays the role of the mysterious man. The piano man's role takes place at the back of the school stage wearing wearing a white button down with black pants with the piano as a prop. A problem we have though is that we can't find a good time to record there without disturbances. The business man and mysterious man take place in a parking lot of an office. One problem is that we do not know where and when we will record that part, just that it will happen when its dark out. The costume for John (business man) is a business suit with a briefcase as a prop. I (the mysterious man) will have a trench coat and fedora hat as my costume. The script is finished, but we are having disagreements over the lines for the voiceover. For recording, we w...

The first part with the piano is meant to seem odd and out of place. Playing a piano in the backlines of the stage gives a sense of isolation and peace. This is a big contrast to the other part in which the dark area, mysterious man, and bullet holes in the car (which is red) set a dramatic and mysterious mood. The scene is meant to illustrate drama having audience questioning who this mysterious, menacing character is. I have chosen this mood to give the audience tension between what is occurring, creating suspense and hooks the audience onto watching the scene.

Dare to Thrill The video is run by handheld camera movements, usually when it shows the group. This can make the audience feel involved in the scene. There is a ton of close ups with quick straight cuts to show the action and thrill of the car ride. The low lighting properly matched the late night mood. The words' style and font seemed out of place and random. The sound and music perfectly fit the mood of what was happening. Mumbled dialogue occurred when the group was walking together. There was action music when they were driving the car. During the car drive, they used dolly shots to follow the car, as well as pans, handhelds, and static shots. They properly ended the scene with an insert cut of the trunk, leaving the audience in suspense and wanting to "continue" watching. Overall, the scene was well made. Always Watching The video shows the main character's urge to stalk his best friend. The scene uses ...

We (mainly me and Kristian) were first trying to decide what kind of genre we would be doing. At first we wanted to do a comedy skit, like Saturday Night Live. We then settled for a drama. Kristian immediately got to work, making a skit like a machine. He sent his result to John and I. We were a bit judgmental at first, but we accepted it. One problem John had was the lines for the voiceover, as he said it did not make much sense. So far though, there are no changes to the lines. We were all good with our roles, except I did not think that John could be a good voiceover. The original script had a prop gun, but we heard that it wasn't allowed so we had the change it to a drone shot of the car. Thankfully, I realized that my dad has a drone that I'm sure he will let me borrow. Elizabeth joined the group late, so we took that opportunity to take John's role of voiceover and give it to her. Then we settled with the final result, so far.

After much hassle, I managed to get Kristian (who is in another class) to join and John joined. Elizabeth joined later. Kristian quickly started throwing ideas from comedy to tragedy. We settled on a p hilosophical fiction/drama. Kristian easily became the scriptwriter and director. With his past experience, he was also in charge of sound and editing. He is also an actor. John and I also wanted to act. Elizabeth joined late so to find her a role, we gave her the voiceover role that was going to be for John. We will all be cameraman. We will be using our phones to record (except for Kristian's because it is too old). I also have a drone that we will use. Because of its piano, we will film at the stage in the school's auditorium and outside of an office building. Kristian and John said that they have the necessary props and costumes, including a briefcase, suit, and coat.

Question 1 The extract from Agent Carter gives the ideology of women power and mistreatment/ inequality. several elements of the film further emphasizes this. In the opening of the extract, close ups of Carter reveals her tearful frowning face. This implements the loss of Steve, who we can understand to be someone special to her and most likely treated her equally. This makes the audience feel pity and sorrow. the general color of blue, seen in the lights and picture frame of Steve, further sets the mood of sorrow and loss, not just for Steve's death but also for the mistreatment Carter receives at her job. The fade-out transition is given, setting the scene of Steve's death to black. the shift to black signifies death and leaves the viewers to their thoughts. The black also symbolizes negativity, foreshadowing negative atmosphere our protagonist is in. This transition is also used...
