Mise En Scene

Image
Grey's Anatomy           Grey's Anatomy is a medical drama series. It focuses on a group of doctors at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital and their experiences. It mainly focuses towards Meredith Grey, the daughter of a famous surgeon, as she struggles to maintain relationships with her colleagues. The mise en scene throughout all the episodes are overall the same.           These two pictures represent the main mise en scene used throughout the episodes, both similar yet giving different tones. The location is at a (seemingly real) hospital, containing many hospital props and items so you can tell that it is a hospital instead of an apartment. The actors overall either wear civilian clothes, doctor outfits, or patient outfits (hospital gowns). The overall colors that are being shown is blue and white.          These mise en scene generally give an aspect of a real hospital, is if all events a...

Moodboard

Image
In this mood board, it was about a crime scene. I chose it to create a sense of action and drama. I wanted my audience to assume that my character is a forensic scientist, at the scene to do his job. I wanted the audience to feel the sense of intenseness and curiosity of what went down. In this mood board, it was about a circus. I chose it to create an exciting atmosphere. I wanted my audience to assume that my character is a clown, who is doing his job of entertainment. I wanted the audience to feel the sense of happiness and simple pleasures. In this mood board, it was about a baseball game. I chose it to create a competitive, entertaining atmosphere and because I like baseball. I wanted my audience to assume that my character is a baseball player, who is ready to win the game. I wanted them to feel excited and cheerful to watch the game. In this mood board, it was about Paris. I chose it as it looks peaceful and beautiful. I wanted my audience to assume that these characters a...

Movie Rating

I recently got to view the Marvel movie 'Avengers: Infinity War' and I have a strong opinion towards it. For a two hour movie, the movie plays out really well in terms of holding the audience's attention. There is almost always action going on, keeping the audience on their toes. There is never a moment I would turn away or lose attention towards the movie. Therefore, this movie is deserving of expert (20 points) in this criteria.           The camera work and editing were phenomenal. Due to the camera work, I really felt each impact of the action. For example, when the enemies invaded Earth, it seemed like I was with the Avengers. The editing seemed extremely realistic. I would only tell if it is fake due to the fact that it isn't possible. Without a doubt, this movie earns an expert in this criteria.          The background music plays its role perfectly. For each mood, the music is always f...

Analyzing Technical Elements of Film

Image
Avengers: Infinity War From Marvel Studios           I chose to talk about the kinds of angles, movements, and sounds of Avengers: Infinity War. I like both action and superhero movies, which this movie fits as both. I also seen the previous marvel movies that apply to the timeline. As it being an action movie, there will be many camera movements.          The movie opens with an establishing shot of two ships in space, with one attacking the other. This shot introduces the viewer to the setting of the first scene.  One can clearly see that one ship is bigger than the other, showing that there is superiority in the attack.   It creates a sense of intensity as it opens with violence. It leaves the viewers eager to see what is taking place and how could the climax get more intense than this. Within the same scene, there is a low angle close up shot. It shows a clear view of the antagonist of the movie (Thanos). The st...

Composition

Image
Aspects of Focus: Rule of Thirds:  The subject is in the first of the three imaginary sectors. This creates a more interesting and appealing picture. It draws the viewers attention to the subject, which is what you want them to see. In this picture, the attention is pointed towards John, who is yawning. This can make us feel tired or relaxed or even yawn as well. Shallow Focus: The subject is put into focus and everything else around him is blurry. This gives attention to the subject and only the subject. Viewers don't really have nothing to look at but the subject. Here, John is clearly thinking. The blurriness can represent him in deep thought and it makes you wonder 'what is he thinking?' Standard Focus: The foreground is clear, the middle ground is a little blurry, and the background is completely blurry. This gives some attention to the middle ground, but mainly to the foreground (main subject). There viewers can see the subject as an event plays out. In the pictur...

Classmates Blog Commentary

Kyle's Blog https://kylelogs.blogspot.com/2024/08/10-camera-shotsangles.html#more I chose Kyle because his shots were quite entertaining to watch and properly shows the right shots and angles. Shoulder Shot : Kyles shoulder shot helps bring us into the conversation being made. This make the audience feel involved. Dutch Angle: This angle-shot creates a  psychotic  atmosphere. The shot felt completely random and insane, matching the angle perfectly. As John makes his face and Juan jumps in, it gives the audience a sense of disorganization and comedy. Low Angle: Despite Juan stretching seeming random, this angle creates a different sense. As Juan stretches, he seem bigger and taller. This makes him seem powerful and the audience feels weak or puny in his presence.
